 1. Thought-provoking because:  consider the example of Jesus, since it relates to the important role
  of man in God's plan.
 2. Difficult because of:  the comprehensive nature of the example of Jesus, necessity of selection, etc.
B. Consider three topics concerning this subject.

DISCUSSION:

I. THE DECLARATION  OF HIS EXAMPLE (I Peter 2:21).

 A. The context of the passage.
 B. The figure in the term "example."
 C. The insight provided.

II. THE DIMENSIONS OF HIS EXAMPLE.

 A. Development to manhood (Luke 2:52).
 B. Learning to earn a living (Mark 6:3).
 C. Development of a deep religious faith.  Note:  Verses in several places    which stress this truth.
 D. Jesus knew and was involved in a family life and the events which were important to that life.
 E. Jesus knew the events in the world around Him.

III. THE DECISION TO IMITATE HIM.

 A. To receive the instruction Jesus gave, in word and deed.
 B. To guide ourselves and others by this instruction.
 C. To mature more fully as we learn more and live better after His example.

CONCLUSION:

This example of Jesus in growing to manhood and living such a life as he did should encourage and guide us to be better and stronger in our lives, both as men and women.
