HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE
VALIANT?
INTRODUCTION:
The word "valiant" brings a mental picture of a knight in shining
armor--chivalrously protecting us and
defending our honor. Why should that image in 1995 be so
out of touch with the world in which we live?
B. Characteristics of a valiant man.
1. Virtue.
2. Valor.
3. Strength.
4. Able.
5. Substance.
6. Worthy.
7. Champion.
8. Mighty.
9. Courageous.
10. Constant.
11. Hero.
C. Not only is it pleasant and desirable for us to be surrounded by
men who have these characteristics, but God requires men to be valiant
to enter into heaven.
1. II Peter 1:5-7.
2. I Corinthians 16:13.
3. I Corinthians 15:58.
D. We interact with men and boys in various areas of our lives.
We will be discussing some of these roles and ways we can help the men
and boys in our lives to be valiant.
DISCUSSION:
I. AS HIS WIFE, HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE VALIANT?
A. I am his help meet (Genesis 2:18).
B. I am to be in subjection; he is my crown and head
(Ephesians 5:22).
C. I must let him lead spiritually. We will have
spiritual sharing "that our prayers be not
hindered" (I Peter 3:7).
D. I must let the conversation of my life show him Christ; I
must not nag (I Peter 3:1-6).
E. I must be faithful to our marriage vows; love him (Song of
Solomon 8:6,7).
F. I must like him.
G. I must learn to be compatible.
H. Examples of wives who helped their husbands to be valiant.

II. AS HIS MOTHER, HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE VALIANT?
A. Be an example of virtue.
B. Teach him the Bible and Christian principles while he is young.
C. Be consistent with my example, discipline, Christianity.
D. Be patient with him.
E. Let him be a boy.
F. Enjoy his childhood; let him be a child.
G. Enjoy his manhood; let him grow.

III. AS HIS DAUGHTER, HOW CAN I HELP HIM BE VALIANT?
A. Be obedient.

IV. AS HIS FELLOW CHRISTIAN, HOW CAN I HELP HIM BE VALIANT?
A. Be an example of faithfulness.
B. Study so I can help if he falls short in doctrine (example
of Priscilla).
C. Encourage him if he falls short in Christian living (Galatians
6:1).

V. AS HIS BIBLE CLASS TEACHER, HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE VALIANT?
A. I must teach him to remember God in his youth.
B. I need to know and teach to truth in my classroom.
C. I must expect excellence from my students.

2. Teach truth:
a. So he can walk in it (III John 3,4).
b. So he can believe and know it (I Timothy 2:4).
c. So he can handle it accurately (II Timothy 2:15).
d. So he can obey it (I Peter 1:22).

VI. AS HIS STUDENT, HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE VALIANT?
A. I must listen (I am responsible for how I hear and what I
hear).
B. I must study.
C. I must accept the truth.

VII. AS HIS FRIEND, HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE VALIANT?
A. Go with him only where companionship is good.
B. Do things which are wholesome.
C. Let my light shine.
D. Teach him.
E. Examples.
1. Women who were friends of Jesus.
2. Dorcas.
3. Mary and Martha.
VII. AS HIS NEIGHBOR, HOW CAN I HELP HIM TO BE VALIANT?
A. By my example of helpfulness, hospitality, golden rule.
B. As the story of the Good Samaritan--my neighbor is the world,
so I must go and teach my
neighbor--whether he is next door or around the world.
C. Examples.

CONCLUSION:
I can help him be valiant by being a virtuous woman!
