Proverbs for You
(Proverbs 11)
11:1: Be honest.
        Romans 11:22.
11:2: Sometimes the proud cannot be reasoned with; they know it all.
         Humility (Matthew 18:3).
11:3: Obstinacy, refusal to gain wisdom, may destroy a person.
11:4: Man’s judgment may be bought, but not God’s—we cannot
        purchase salvation (Matthew  16:26,27).
11:5: Wickedness will somehow come to nought (Jeremiah 10:23).
11:6: Right living keeps one from evil.
        Sin leads to destruction (Proverbs 13:15; 1 John 3:4).
11:7: The wicked have no right to expectation of future blessedness
        (Ephesians 5:3-5).
11:8: Matthew 5:1-12.
         The wicked are left to suffer (Exceptions are not given).
11:9: The godless hypocrite deals in falsehoods and false doctrine;
         leading to destruction.  The righteous overcome through knowledge
         and appreciation of God’s word.
11:10,11:  The upright bless a community.
                 The wicked bring many bad consequences on themselves (See
                 both sides of this in Acts  17:1-12).
11:12: The foolish is full of criticisms (Criticisms should have a proper
           purpose and should be made  at a proper time).
11:13: Words about gossip (James 3:5ff; 1 Peter 4:15).
11:14: The absence of counsel contrasted with the abundance of wise
          counsel.
11:15: Be careful.
11:16: It takes strength of character (virtue) for her to do this.
          The man in this verse is one who can tempt her to compromise.
11:17: Matthew 5:7; Galatians 6:7,8.
           Think of Cain, Absalom, Jezebel...
11:18: Deceitful works are eventually exposed (2 Corinthians 5:10).
11:19: Righteousness and evil both lead to conclusions.
11:20: Froward (perverse): high-minded; self-opinionated.
          Blameless: no charge against them can be justified.
11:21: The wicked may support one another, but they cannot stand.
           The good shall be delivered.
11:22: It is out of place.  Beauty without discretion; one who thinks that
           virtue is senseless.
11:23: What an attitude!
           What a destiny!
11:24: Opposite attitudes toward earthly blessings.
11:25: Promises for those who accept God’s pattern.
11:26: Forces high prices; refuses the poor.
11:27: Sowing and reaping (Luke 2:52; Acts 2:42-47; Esther 5:13,14;
           7:7-10).

11:29: Those who dissipate will ruin themselves and their houses.
11:30: Righteousness is good for body and soul (Revelation 22:1,2).
          Soul winner (Matthew 16:24-26; 10:28).
11:31: Good and evil ARE rewarded according to works (Matthew 19:29;
          Mark 10:29,30;  Luke 18:29,30).

             “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the
               ungodly and the sinner appear”  (1 Peter 4:18).
