Wisdom: One of God’s Greatest Offers
(Proverbs 2:1-22)

  I.  WISDOM IS RECOMMENDED (2:1-8).
       A. It is worth it to— (2:1-4):
            —Receive it/—Hide (Treasure) it/—Incline your ear toward it/
            —Apply your heart to it/—Cry out for it/—Lift up your voice for it/ 
            —Seek it/—Search for it.
       B. It will— (2:5):
            —Allow you to understand
            _______________________________________________.
   
            —Allow you to find    
            _______________________________________________.
       C. Because: Its source is the Lord (2:6-8).
            He gives it/It comes from His mouth/He lays (stores) it up/
            He is a buckler (shield)/He keeps (is a guard)/He preserves.

  II. WISDOM PROTECTS (2:9-19).
       A. The claim (2:9-11).
           You will understand...
           You will have it in your heart and soul.
           You will be preserved and kept.
       B. The areas of protection (2:12-19).
           1. Evil men (2:12-15).
               a. Ways and words (2:12).
               b. Paths and darkness (2:13).
               c. Joys and delights (2:14).
               d. Crooked and froward (devious; 2:15).
           2. Immoral women (2:16-19).
               a. Strange (immoral) flatterers (seducers; 2:16).
               b. Forsaking covenant-breakers (2:17).
               c. The path of death (2:18).
               d. A one-way street (2:19).

  III. THE TWO WAYS (AGAIN; 2:20-22).

        A. The way of goodness, righteousness, the upright, and the perfect
             (blameless; 2:20,21).
        B. The way of the wicked and transgressors (unfaithful; 2:22).
 


Proverbs 2

  1. Notice in verses 1-5 what we must do in order to understand the fear of the
      Lord and to find the knowledge of God:
      (1) _____________________ my words,
      (2) _____________________ my commandments with thee;
      (3) _____________________ thine ear unto wisdom,
      (4) _____________________ thine heart to understanding,
      (5) _____________________ after knowledge,
      (6) _____________________ __________ thy voice for understanding;
      (7) _____________________ her as silver,
      (8) _____________________ for her as for hid treasures.
  2. In verses 6-9, we learn what God does to help us to understand 
      righteousness, judgment, equity, and every good path:
      (1) For the Lord giveth _____________________:
      (2) Out of his mouth cometh _____________________ and 
            ____________________.
      (3) He layeth up _______________ _______________ for the righteous:
      (4) He is a ____________________ to them that walk uprightly.
      (5) He keepeth the __________ of _____________________.

  3. Wisdom and knowledge are said to accomplish or do certain things for us
      in  verses 10-20:

  5. The strange woman does these wicked acts:

  6. What shall be done to the wicked and the transgressors (21,22)?
