This book, and lectureship, bears the title, “Millennium Mania.” There surely is a mad rush toward an earthly millennium on the part of many people in “Christian denominations.” It is difficult to find a religious program, book, or magazine that does not include speculations and predictions. Why does this seem to be increasing at the “end” of this millennium? If the year 2000 was always what God had in mind in the Bible, why is it just now being figured out?? Is this really 1998? According to historians, our calendar is off. Most time lines now have Jesus being born in B.C. 4 (or earlier). If that is true, then we are already more than 2000 years from His birth—and the millennium maniacs are TOO LATE! They have always been too early, too late, or too unwilling to let the Bible really guide them to the truth. They would rather manipulate the Bible into “supporting” their cause so that you and I could then “support their cause” (II Peter 2:1-3). This book, and lectureship, are designed to give you information, in a very plain and accurate form, that will help you see that the Bible is indestructible. The difficulty is not with the Bible—it is with all of the centuries of error that have cluttered the landscape that encourages the idea that it cannot be understood unless you are a “clergy person” or have a “gift,” etc. The Lord willing, we will have another lectureship in 1999 to study other parts of the Bible in response to this “Millennium Mania.” If your study of this material prompts questions that you think we can help you with, please contact us. Also, note that cassette tapes of this lectureship are available. You may want the whole set ($15.00), or individual tapes (2 lessons each; $2.00). Thanksgiving is offered to
Our Heavenly Father for His truth and this opportunity to study it.
Also, personal thanks to the other elders (Dennis Hatchett and Ernest Burnette)
for allowing this to take place, to the speakers and writers, to Tracie
Lanier for all the proof reading, and to my best friend and wife, Helen—who
always works more hours than anyone on this lectureship.
